HISTORY
Opus Dei was founded on October 2, 1928 by St Josemaria Escriva.
St Josemaria was canonised on October 6, 2002, by St John Paul II,
who named him
the “Patron Saint of Ordinary Life.”
Opus Dei is currently established in 69 countries. Opus Dei began apostolic work in New Zealand in 1989, at the request of Bishop Edward Gaines.

Opus Dei provides spiritual formation and pastoral care to support individuals in their Christian life and apostolic endeavours.
